Every world stock market by country ranking you see online pulls from the same well. The World Bank's World Development Indicators track market capitalization of listed domestic companies for most economies, sourced from the World Federation of Exchanges. End-of-year values. Annual. That is the dataset behind nearly every chart.
WorldMarketStats rebuilt that dataset into something usable: 2,098 rows covering 104 countries from 2000 to 2025, with total market cap in USD, market cap as % of GDP, listed-company counts, and year-over-year growth. Plus EU and BRICS aggregate rows most free sources leave out.
One catch worth knowing. WDI figures are end-of-year snapshots, so a volatile December can skew a country's number. And China's figures move fast enough that any annual table is stale by spring. Treat the ranking as a map, not a GPS.
